1964 Ford Mustang

An opportunity to acquire a multi-award-winning 1964½ Ford Mustang Convertible, early production and exceptionally well-preserved. Fully restored in 2018, this very early Mustang is finished in the rare Factory Silver Smoke Grey metallic with black bucket seats and interior, and is factory optioned with Power Steering, a centre console, and a power hood. It has recently been fitted with new Brockley tyres and a GT350 air cleaner, while the original air cleaner comes with the car as well. The restoration was carried out to the highest standard, including a full rebuild of the 260 V8. The body was completely restored, with interior and power hood replaced and new retractable seatbelts fitted. Hundreds of hours were spent on panel alignment alone, resulting in what is likely the best-presenting bodywork and panel gaps we have ever seen on a Mustang. The 260ci engine was fully overhauled, including a re-bore to +0.030 inches, new pistons and rings, a re-ground and polished crankshaft to -0.010 inches, and a new front balance pulley. Oil, fuel, and water pumps were replaced, along with the engine core plugs. Cylinder heads were re-ground with new un-leaded valve seats fitted. The dual-range green dot automatic transmission was fully rebuilt and performs flawlessly. This is a simply exceptional early Mustang, now back in our care after a period in a private collection. Its pristine Silver Smoke paintwork paired with the black interior presents one of the most elegant and desirable classic Mustang combinations possible.
